15 November 2013 - we're on our first trip in our new motor home in Braithwaite, near Keswick. We picked it up last Sunday after months of searching endlessly for the right van for our big trip to Europe next year. We're planning a few trial runs before we set off in the spring. So far, it's great, now we've worked out how to operate the toilet and the central heating - I am a complete novice where motor homes are concerned but John's done a tour of Europe previously.
We opted for a 2008 Carthago after going to see quite a few vans - everything is just right - bigger engine, fixed bed, separate shower, loads of storage and a touch of luxury - a TV that pops up out of the back of the chair and a built in coffee maker! To get around once we're on site we have a quad bike. It will be interesting learning to ride that!
We're at Scotgate campsite - we'd definitely recommended it. Quiet but not deserted, lovely facilities and a great pub nearby. We've had a leisurely walk into Keswick today. The scenery is stunning.
Heading back home tomorrow and will start planning our next trip.
